Homework Support and STEM Studies

Students are welcome to attend the Elliott Test Kitchen to receive academic support for any desired subjects. The Foundation reaches out to dedicated, passionate volunteer educators to meet the needs of students. For their efforts, students and educators are provided with a great meal prepared by area chefs.

The United States has become a global leader, in large part, through the genius and hard work of its scientists, engineers, and innovators. In a world that’s becoming increasingly complex, where success is driven not only by what you know but by what you can do with what you know, it’s more important than ever for our youth to be equipped with the knowledge and skills to solve tough problems, gather and evaluate evidence, and make sense of information. These are the types of skills that students learn by studying science, technology, engineering, and math—subjects collectively known as STEM.

Test Kitchen Education Foundation is committed to get students interested in STEM subjects early in their school careers. Also, the foundation believes that children’s race, zip code, or socioeconomic status should never determine their STEM experiences. Every child should have the opportunity to thrive in a modern STEM economy and be prepared to actively participate in it regardless of their background.

Robotics

Robotics session for middle school aged students will begin by students learning to code in Scratch. As students progress in their coding skills, several different brands of robotic components will be introduced to students in weekly challenges. Students will problem-solve by writing codes necessary to create various robotic movements. Students will problem-solve by writing codes necessary to create various robotic movements. This is a great opportunity for students to gain foundation level coding skills and apply those skills in a fun, competitive way.

This program is offered to students in fall.

Science Fair Practices

The Elliott Test Kitchen has dedicated every Thursdays for students who wish to participate in Science Fair competition. Science teachers are available on site to support students with their project and ideas. All participants will enjoy a great meal at the end of the session to rejuvenate the hard-working brains.
